La Nina is delivering silly amounts of snow to the northwest… almost too much. We got hit with six feet of snow in a six day period. Snoqualmie Pass on I-90 was closed for days due to avalanche control. The Washington State Department of Transportation did a killer job clearing the roads bringing down something like 30 controlled slides in one day alone after our Governor declared a state of emergency. Apparently enough snow to fill 129,000 dump trucks had to be cleared from the highway. As of 4am this morning the highway was open so we could finally get to the mountains but then the mountains lost power. We decided we didn’t need power and headed up anyway. It’s hard to get many laps without a chair lift so we set up a little stall spot… hey they weren’t using it right? And many thanks to Brian for letting us play on the lift…

All the signs of winter are officially in place here in the Pacific Northwest. Things may have gotten off to a bit of a slow start but it seems the La Nina winter everyone has been talking about is finally kicking in. I even woke up this morning to find snow and ice on the roads of downtown Seattle– along with all the terrible drivers that come with it. As I’m standing below a cliff, chest deep in snow, camera in hand, attempting to dodge boulder size slush balls rolling down at me I couldn’t help think of my girlfriend who has been posted up in Maui for the last week. I’m a firm believer that the summer makes you appreciate the winter and vice versa. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve had a smile on my face since the first flakes began to fall but I thought it might be an appropriate time for a quick summer riding recap…
This first shot is Lucas Debari at Mt. Baker… taking advantage of the snow that’s left after they stop spinning the lifts for the summer.

Mt. Hood is always a fun spot to be in the summer… although sometimes it can be a bit of a fashion show. I guess summer is at least a better time to break out those tall t’s than the winter (no offense to all the tall t lovers out there). Here’s Craig Gillis with a little one-footer action.

The summer wouldn’t be complete without a little adventure to the southern hemisphere. Signal Snowboards Intern Extrodinaire Andrew Hart getting his in Chile.

Finally, who can’t resist riding into the sunset to finish the summer off?

That’s it for my summer recap… time to get back to this glorious winter.
Hey there guys and gals! Looks like I’m going to be contributing some photos here. You’ll mainly see snowboard work from me but I’ll mix in other stuff every now and then. I’m living in Seattle and mainly shoot up here in the northwest, so I’ve got my fingers crossed for another great season! My website can be found at www.frostlinephotography.com. It’s still a work in progress but you can find photos there at least. For now, here are a few from last year…
